An exclusive short code is an SMS sender dedicated to your business. It can be useful if you need your own sender or plan a messaging volume that requires a specific commercial assessment. Availability depends on the destination country and provisioning process.
Hellotext can also use approved senders or shared short codes where available. With a shared code, other businesses can contact the same number from that sender. To associate an ordinary reply, Hellotext considers the channel, number, and compatible outgoing records; the reply can end up with another business. Capture references have their own handling. The person’s text alone does not identify which business they intended to answer.
If you need to prevent other Hellotext businesses from using your code, ask about an exclusive one. Sender exclusivity does not verify customer identity or grant consent for campaigns. Also review SMS channel fundamentals.
Pricing
The current Hellotext pricing page lists an exclusive short code within Enterprise terms, subject to country availability. Confirm the offer that applies to your business; having a plan or requesting a code does not establish that it is assigned or active.
Before accepting a proposal, confirm with Hellotext:
- destination country and covered mobile networks, including reply reception;
- supported format and length, and whether you can choose the number;
- applicable plan or agreement, term, and payment arrangement;
- any provisioning, maintenance, and usage costs; and
- approval requirements and an estimated process, without assuming a guaranteed date.
Do not apply one country’s terms to another or assume a national code works for international destinations. Message and part costs are covered separately in SMS pricing and sender types.
Requesting a short code
Contact your account executive or use Hellotext’s contact channels. Explain the intended use, destination countries and mobile networks, estimated volume, and whether you need to receive replies. Include the business name and Business ID to identify the correct account.
If you have access to Settings > General, the ID appears below the name. The figure shows the fictional business Enterprise and public ID 4ONLdN32. Enterprise is its name, not proof of the plan; the ID is not a short code, token, or approved request. You do not need to edit the business to copy it. If you cannot access it, ask someone with permissions in your business for help.
If you prefer a particular number, ask which choices that market allows. Provide alternatives in preference order when Hellotext requests them; proposing a number does not reserve it or guarantee approval by every mobile network.
Before announcing the sender or scheduling sends, obtain confirmation of the assigned code, country and coverage, operational account status, reply handling, and commercial terms. A request, an approval, and an active channel are different stages.
Continue respecting each recipient’s consent and opt-outs, account limits and balance, and flow compatibility. An active code does not guarantee that every message is sent, delivered, or read. If an operation’s outcome is uncertain, check its state and references before repeating it.
